Underwear and suits on Nordic ski catwalk
Shopping village Norwegian Outlet marked both Oslo Fashion Week and the Nordic World Ski Championships this weekend, They staged their very own fashion show with a difference: the catwalk was a 600 metre cross-country ski run along the main shopping street. Audiences were treated to everything from underwear to party clothes by models on cross-country skis in eight degrees below zero.
“As far as I know this is the first time in this country, and perhaps in the world, that someone has staged a fashion show on skis. The show was very well received by audiences who clearly enjoyed what they saw - both the models and the clothing brands from our outlets. We showed everything from wonderful underwear to stylish party clothes and cool leather jackets,” says Norwegian Outlet’s managing director Einar Sørland.
Norwegian Outlet is situated in Vestby, 25 minutes outside of Oslo. With 40 retailers, this was Norway’s first outlet village when it opened last year.
“We can strengthen our position as a national attraction through this kind of public show. We will be a different shopping mecca where experiences are central,” says Sørland.
