British Gas delivers ab-zorbing experience with Carat
The 2011 British Gas Swimming Championships in Manchester was not just confined to the pool; it was taken beyond the lanes!
Carat Sponsorship conceptualized and designed a ‘British Gas Zorbing Experience’ where shoppers had the opportunity to race against their swimming heroes’ time records, such as double Olympic gold medallist Rebecca Adlington and Swimming legend Duncan Goodhew in their bid to win some top prizes. A number of swimming and diving athletes from the Great Britain squad including Liam Tannock, Nick Robinson Baker, Kerri-Anne Payne and James Goddard were also in attendance to help inspire the competitors.
The fixed indoor zorb – a giant inflatable tube on rollers – is an experience like no other. Competitors had 30 seconds to try and zorb further than the swimming stars with prizes up for grabs such as an annual family weekend pass to a local swimming club and signed Rebecca Adlington shirts.
The British Gas ‘Zorbing Experience’ ran in Exchange Court at Manchester Arndale from Thursday 10th - Saturday 12th March and will be toured around the country visiting the many other British Gas Swimming events.
Paul Hicks Head of brand experience and events says ‘It was a great opportunity for British Gas to demonstrate their association with Swimming and an opportunity to engage with consumers in a thought leading and modern way’.
