Textile for Treader sets sail for Sign success
The Sign and Digital Awards are set to be presented on April 13th at the National Motorcycle Museum, a venue which is a short distance from the exhibition at the NEC.
There were sixty entries. Vehicle wrapping looks the most keenly contested awards as the category has the most nominated finalists - Coastline Graphics, Guido Design Solutions, Pyramid Visuals, Allen Signs, Signs Express (Exeter) and Raccoon.
The most overtly brand experience ‘sign’ to be nominated as a finalist is a yachting sail with a difference – digitally printed by The Wild Group. It is one of 3 finalists chosen for the printed textiles category.
Twentieth Century Fox were launching their new hit movie “Voyage of the Dawn Treader’. Taking centre stage was ‘The Matthew’ an 80ft galleon. To raise the films profile Fox held a worldwide competition to win a two week voyage aboard the galleon.
The voyage took place around the South West Peninsula for a period of just over two weeks, taking in a route from Ilfracombe to Falmouth and back again at the end of the summer 2010. Says The Wild Group’s MD Matt Straker, “20th Century Fox asked us to produce a set of printed sails as part of a worldwide promotional campaign for their movie. The print on the sail was a hit, and so was the film! We are absolutely delighted to be shortlisted for this award! It is the first time we’ve entered anything like this and to get this far is brilliant. I can tell you the buzz going around the office is great - and highly motivational.”
