Carrefour and Google chiefs to head World Retail Congress
Jose Carlos Gonzales-Hurtado, chief commercial officer at Carrefour and Matt Brittin, managing director, Google UK & Ireland and Non Executive Director, Sainsbury’s are just two of the international retail leaders set to address the World Retail Congress when it meets in Berlin from 25 to 28 September this year.
During the three day Congress, the duo will be joined on stage by Stephen Sunnucks, European President and International Franchise, Gap Inc; Burt Tansky, Chairman, Neiman Marcus; Govind Shrikhande, Managing Director, Shopper’s Stop; Tommy Hilfiger, Founder and Principal Designer, Tommy Hilfiger and Arvind Singhal, Chairman, Technopak.
One of the high profile gatherings of the retail industry across all sectors, in total, over 100 leading retail industry executives and visionaries are expected to speak on today’s core industry issues, as chosen by some of the top names from across global retailing. The Congress agenda is set in collaboration with the World Retail Congress Advisory Board, which met earlier this year and includes Ian Cheshire, CEO, Kingfisher; Jianzong Wu, Chairman, Wumart and Glenn Murphy, CEO, Gap. As in previous years, this powerful session has helped shape the Congress to focus on the issues confronting retail boardrooms around the world. As a result, the agenda for the major international meeting will focus on:
-
Managing today’s economic cycle
-
Delivering growth through focusing on both the hard and the soft strategies
-
Getting the new marketing mix right
-
Understanding successful international business expansion models
-
Elevating the focus on the fast growing retail markets of Brazil, Russia, India and China
-
Putting the talent agenda at the heart of boardroom discussions
-
Multichannel retailing and mobile commerce
-
The impact and importance of sustainability
-
The fast-changing consumer and the need for shopper insight to build future strategies
The World Retail Congress 2011 will take place at the Intercontinental Berlin from 25 to 28 September 2011 and has at its heart a three day agenda of plenary sessions, business streams and networking events. In 2010, the event was attended by over 1000 people with more than 100 speakers representing some of the biggest and most important names in retailing around the world.
The Congress is organised by Emap Communications, in association with key sponsors, Deloitte, MasterCard and Oracle.
