Pan Macmillan and PD3 create mystery tour with Jeffrey Archer
Pd3, the experience-led creative agency, is set to launch a campaign to promote Jeffrey Archer’s multi-generational family saga Only Time Will Tell published by Pan Macmillan.
The unique activity of a theatrical experiential event, promoting the hardback book, kicks off at Temple Meads Station in Bristol, where the fictitious story about the protagonist Harry Cliffton takes place in the 1920s.
A selected audience will be picked up on the 14 May by a vintage double-decker bus to experience the story revolving around a mix up of Harry Cliffton’s suitcase with one of the passengers. The bus takes a detour around Bristol, trying to track down Harry and takes the passengers to various locations related to the book where they engage with the characters. After Harry is found and the suitcase mix-up is resolved, the audience is taken to The Bristol Marriott Royal Hotel, where Jeffrey Archer will hold a Q&A session.
Pan Macmillan is one of the first publishers to use the theatrical experience approach for promoting a book. The event is set to drive sales to Jeffrey Archer’s hardback and offer an exclusive experience for fans of the author.
Catherine Botibol, creative development director at pd3 said: “After reading Jeffrey Archer’s saga, we knew this was the perfect opportunity to create a theatrical experience for the author’s fans – bringing the story to life and allowing the audience to step into the world of Harry Clifton.”
Rebecca Ikin, marketing director at Pan Macmillan said: “We wanted to create a high-profile launch event for Only Time Will Tell and the beginning of Jeffrey Archer’s major historical series, The Clifton Chronicles and were keen to use immersive theatre to bring the Bristol setting and period to life. We hope the event will create a real buzz around publication and be shared with Jeffrey Archer’s global fan base on Facebook and Twitter, and are delighted to be working with pd3 to deliver it.”
