E.ON Energy puts FA Cup hopefuls through paces at Wembley
Stoke and Manchester City fans will battle it out energetically tomorrow on the road to Wembley. But unlike the bad old days tomorrow’s fan rivalry is expected to be fun. The fans will be segregated by E.ON’s promotional staff, Stoke to the left , Man City to the right, to show off their energy, and win a £10,000 reward, from cup sponsor E.ON , for their local region.
The competition could not be more straightforward. Fans will team up on either side of the Olympic Way (a.k.a. Wembley Way), the main road between Wembley Park and the stadium. The teams face each other on raised platforms across the street awaiting the signal to start. When under starter's orders both teams jump wildly on a floor that harnesses their energy and stores it in a battery. With 50,000 fans expected to take that route into the match there should be a crackle and a buzz in the air as fans sweat it out. At the end of each ‘bout’ a winner – Stoke or Manchester – is declared and added to an accumulated total. The City with the highest total will get the financial reward.
Today the kit was tested by local Brent schoolchildren who also got the bonus of a chance to see and be photographed with the Cup itself.
In the past few days E.ON has been hosting further promotions in both Manchester and Stoke, engaging people with the pre-match buzz.
The activity is designed to engage football fans with E.ON’s Cup sponsorship whilst underlining the brand’s low energy commitment.
The experience is created and delivered for E.ON by agency RPM.
