SymphonyIRI Group partners with Boots to integrate branded sales data
Symphony IRI Group announced today that its market tracking services for health and beauty brand sales will now include almost all data on products sold in Boots. For the first time, the UK's most popular pharmacy led health and beauty retailer has made available named account data for in store sales of branded own-label products.
The data provided by Boots to SymphonyIRI includes sales volume and value; pricing and promotional status. SymphonyIRI will release and offer insight on this data to provide health and beauty brands with key performance indicators on own, competitor and Boots own label products helping them to optimise their marketing campaigns and in-store promotions.
SymphonyIRI has worked with Boots since 1993 as preferred supplier. The company's retail business unit director David Ware explains the significance of this new partnership. "The availability of more granular in-store sales data of branded and private label products sold in Boots will give health and beauty brands - that make up more than a third of Boots total sales - a much deeper understanding of their performance in the UK's health and beauty market.
With our detailed analysis of this information, brands can better manage in-store challenges that impact profit margins including range rationalisation, on shelf availability and optimising the promotional mix. They will also have clearer visibility on new product launches and trends in the market that could impact their brand decisions. We expect to be able to help strengthen brand profitability as well as add value to the Boots business."
"The previous release of named account data on a select group of categories has facilitated true collaboration, helping us, our partners and brands to stay ahead of the game when profit margins are squeezed" said Ware. "As a major route to market for health and beauty brands in the UK, we are committed to partnership, innovation and simplicity and believe that this approach will be of benefit to all."
Boots has made its in-store data available to SymphonyIRI with immediate effect. Brands that want to incorporate analysis of Boots named brand data information into their market analytics should contact their account manager at SymphonyIRI Group. Data will be available to SymphonyIRI clients via market tracking service, InfoScan, and the web based named account data portal, SalesWeb.
