Adidas calls the shots with Kaka and co in Iris London's experiential event
Adidas’ ‘Call the Shots’ campaign reached a high point this week activating its talent base – in a highly engaging and captivating way - with the assistance or Iris Experience.
Adidas used the talents of International superstar footballers Kaka, Van Persie, Nani, Rodwell, Shelvey and Llorente to put on a fan controlled event at a secret location in East London in order to promote the brand’s Predator boot.
On the day, what these star performers did was decided by the fans - they called the shots. Challenges ranged from shooting balls through basketball hoops and windows, culminating in a unique action-packed game of 'Football Paintball'.
The live event was the culmination of a period of social networking with the fan base building up a sense of anticipation in advance of this main event.
The footballers themselves chose the final event from a list of 50 fan suggestions. The fans faith in adidas to deliver their wishes was shown as some suggestions described quite complex requirements. Habeel from London’s suggestion was not taken up: “Have a 5-a-side match which must include Messi, Kaka, Gerrard, Nani, Suarez, and the other 5 can be randomly picked. The match will last for 20 mins. The losers will have to run up stairs in Canary Wharf and the last person will have to jump in the River Thames!”
Sanpaul from Bradford wanted “An epic game inside the Houses of Parliament, where Milliband faces Cameron Labour v Conservatives. They take turns to pick from the talented players such as Kaka, Gerrard and Nani until they have a dazzling 5 a side team and whoever wins gets power and control of the country.”
These were unlikely to be taken up, but Martin from Stockton on Tees clearly hit the right note when suggesting “Paintballing with footballs, simple as that, last person to remain paint-less wins.”
The successful creation of this idea has, unsurprisingly, been captured on camera, as the video shows.
