Vodafone sets out to keep festivalgoers charged up
Vodafone is working with experiential marketing agency Ignite to roll out its Vodafone VIP Recharge Truck at the UK's biggest summer festivals, starting with the Isle of Wight, Download and Escape festivals this weekend.
Ignite will take two specially-designed units to 11 festivals this summer, offering Vodafone customers the opportunity to charge their mobile devices for free.
The 44-tonne vehicles can charge 2,000 devices at any one time - as quickly as it would take a phone to power up at home - and are expected to charge more than 72,000 mobile devices this summer alone.
Vodafone is encouraging customers who own an Android, iPhone, BlackBerry or Nokia device and who are visiting festivals this summer to keep their eyes peeled for one of its Union Jack-clad trucks. The trucks will appear at the Isle of Wight, Download, Escape, Wireless, Hard Rock Calling, T in the Park, Global Gathering, Reading, Leeds, Latitude, The Big Chill and the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
