N2O creates an artistic legacy for Kirin
Launching yesterday, 2nd August, and for six days only, Japan’s beer brand, Kirin Ichiban, is presenting a pop up Yatai restaurant offering delicious bamboo-skewered Kushiage, Kirin beer, shortlisted film competition finalists and the opportunity to own original, commissioned street art.
Designed to engage all the senses, the Kirin Ichiban Yatai is a unique collaboration between premium Japanese beer brand, Kirin Ichiban; top London Japanese chefs, Yasuhiro Mineno and Shinya Ikeda; exciting short film makers entered in the Kirin First Cut film competition; contemporary art collective, Soulful Gallery; post-earthquake, fundraising, Play for Japan; brand placement agency, Be Communications, and experiential agency, N2O Limited. Working together, they have created a pop up Yatai bringing together the old traditions of Japan with new creativity and technology.
To anchor the ephemeral pop up Yatai restaurant in its London Brick Lane setting, the creative team at N2O commissioned art collective, Soulful Gallery, to produce an outstanding series of Japanese urban street art walls – complete with hand painted brickwork, graffiti, peeling posters and fantastical traditional and kawaii characters.
Creating an atmospheric backdrop for the Yatai, each bespoke wall section is an individual work of high quality art.
Yatai diners, art collectors and anyone interested are invited to bid, in a six day-long Silent Auction, for the original, street art wall panels.
Bidding began at 18:00 BST Tuesday 2nd August and ends at 23:00 BST Monday 8th August 2011.
