Oanda stunts drive business PR launch
BCS PR, the Nottingham-based public relations agency, has just completed a hat-trick of stunts to help launch the London office and European subsidiary of innovative Forex trading company, OANDA.
The agency, which won the account following a five-way pitch, planned and organised Street Art, a public animation screening in Canary Wharf, and a reveal event in Finsbury Avenue Square in The City.
BCS account director Paul Muckle commented: “OANDA is a great brand. For a financial services company, they were very open to stunts to maximise the PR around the opening of their London office.
“We were delighted to win the work ahead of some heavyweight competitors and we look forward to handling the ongoing media relations campaign.”
In June, BCS embarked upon a three-pronged, six-week launch campaign aimed at making financial institutions and potential retail clients aware that OANDA had a base in Europe.
The creative ideas, which had an element of mystery to them, were developed and specifically choreographed because OANDA had not yet received the FSA licence it required in order to trade in the UK.
Antony Broadbent, MD of OANDA Europe, commented: “The creative ideas and enthusiasm that BCS brought to the launch of OANDA Europe was fantastic. The campaign has made a great impact and I’m looking forward to building on this success as we move forward together.”
Paul added: “Although the campaign is now more in line with traditional press and analyst relations, we expect to be putting a lot more creative ideas into OANDA activity. We’ve had a lot of fun with the events and promotional activity, but we’re now focused on the work to get OANDA the heavyweight media coverage the fun stuff was designed to facilitate.”
