Cambridge Folk Festival seeks lead sponsor
Cambridge Folk Festival is seeking to partner with a new major sponsor after The Co-operative stepped down as title sponsor of The Co-operative Cambridge Folk Festival at the end of a three year partnership with Cambridge City Council.
Cambridge Folk Festival is one of the premier music events in Europe. The four day festival in July is renowned for its high standards, intimate atmosphere and wide definition of folk music attracting headliners such as Laura Marling, Joan Armatrading, Richard Thompson, Bellowhead, Noah & the Whale. The Festival receives outstanding critical acclaim and has been judged by The Daily Telegraph to be “Europe’s most celebrated event of its kind”. The regular sell-out event is attended by 14,000 people each year but reaches more than 13 million through its national media partners such as BBC Radio 2 and Sky Arts.
The Co-operative’s sponsorship of the Cambridge Folk Festival brought together two organisations that are proud to champion their environmental and ethical values. The fifth largest food retailer in the country, The Co-operative was title sponsor from 2009 until 2011. The Co-operative has been an excellent partner for the Festival, as its strong values & principles align well with the Festival’s ethical and green credentials.
Liz Matkin, head of sponsorship at The Co-operative, said: “The Co-operative Cambridge Folk Festival has been a great partnership for us, and an ideal platform to communicate our ethical and green credentials. We would like to thank the team at Cambridge City Council for helping to make the partnership a success”.
“Having worked with Cambridge Folk Festival for the past three years, we’re really pleased with how our brand has steadily increased its association with the Festival.”
